Tony's Auction

Well now that you have a wholesale auction to goto, what about a "Junk" auction? Well it might not sound like much, but Tony's auction is a kind of resale auction. Its mostly used goods at a good price. A set of dishes for 6 for instance will go for $2. Need that silverware to go with it? Another $2!

Some great deals are to be had. But you must be careful about what you get at auction. Most items are "AS-IS" meaning you get no chance to return it. However, the great thing about Tony's auction if he says "Guaranteed" he will stand behind his word. I have not personally brought anything back but I did witness it happen. He was pleasant and said "I don't care if its broken and your not happy I'll give you your money back" and then told the cashier to give him a full refund.

Sometimes they have "Dealers" (people who buy new stuff and sell new stuff) if you find a good deal, then go ahead, but if its close to retail I'd stay away. Most of the "New" stuff is at all the flea markets and chances are they can give you a better deal.

Now for the junk. Tony's main business is a re-sale shop. He buys estates, and the leftover of houses when people move. He boxes it all up. Puts it for sale in his re-sale shop. Once it doesn't sell for a few weeks. He will put it at auction, if it doesn't sell at auction then you have what my favorite thing in the auction is. "Box Lot" This is all leftovers. Sometimes you get some nice things in box lots, sometimes you get crap and nice things, sometimes its all crap. But 90% of the time they are under $5 a box. For example; I bought a $5 box lot that came inside a 50 gallon tub with a lit. The tub alone was worth $5. The stuff inside I sold for about $10-$12. Granted I only sold each item for .25 but there were enough of them to make my money worth it. Just be careful what you get in the box and don't bid $10 for a $1 item in a box, and you will find all kind of treasures and have a great deal.

This is the first auction I had went to in my new career as a re-seller. They have mostly new merchandise. Monday is mostly a dealer auction, having to buy quantity of items. Somtimes you might find some of the more expensive things ($5 -$10) going in pairs, or alone to get more sales. No credit cards are taking, this is a CASH only auction.

So what kind of products will you find on Monday? Just about anything. This past week they had 5 sellers. The first one had some gift sets, towels, collector knives, scrubs, t-shirts and pants with some novelty stuff thrown in. The second seller was a "Clear Out" seller. This is a cheap everything goes type of seller. You had to take the case of whatever was sold, but it was pennies on the dollar. I purchased wheat noodles for 3c a bag, and nice gold money envelops for 1c each. Some simple orange cleaner and a windex type cleaner for $1 each. You can get some good deals if your careful, but some of the sellers will be tricky since there is no preview at this auction, you don't get a chance to see what is upcoming, so they might run a generic product, and then the genuine product later in the auction.

Friday's and Saturdays are usually pretty similar. Lots of the Monday things get recycled and put back up for more $ less quantity for the general public. Diane the auctioneer also sells alot of new merchandise from "Shelf Pulls" from K-Mart and other stores. Sometimes this is a great way to get that item cheap. Sometimes the Monday sellers come in with new trucks. Things you can find are, Digital Camera's (cheapie), Digital photo frames (nice), Mp3 players, Food (Soup/canned goods) Candy (Dove chocolate, candy bars, lil debbie), Clothes, Kitchen/Bath items, (Towels, rags, cleaner) Lots of kids toys cheap, cheap kids/tween jewelry, some novelty items as well.

Overall this is a nice friendly auction. If your patient you can get some stellar deals. Mostly the deals are just good enough to suck you in. I'd recomend this place to start out as well, it is very newbie friendly.

Thank you for stopping by, this is my intro to auctions. I will be going on about how visiting your local auctions can save you money. Possibly hundreds of dollars per year!

I have been to "Storage Site" auctions, where storage units are auctioned off. Also wholesale auctions where you have to bid quantity of items and buy in bulk. Rummage auctions, where they bring a storage unit or estate into the auction place and auction off items one lot at a time, (Lot = set of items in auction speak).

The best deal around though is the food auction. Think Kmart/Meijer/Kroger. What do they do with stuff that is almost out of date? They send it to auction! The means great deals for you!

The best part about my blog is I will be tweeting from the auctions Live via my blackberry. So without going to the auctions you will find out what's selling, what's available, and even use it for research for your flea market or trade centre gig.

I am also going to give a run down of each auction centre I visit and what 'typically' sells there. Although many have a unique selection everytime, not all places are equal. Also I am willing to review your auction if you invite me out. Just drop a line here and I will do that.
